The Mother of all gods, goddesses, humanity and creation itself, goddess Parvati is the personification of Shakti (divine energy). According to Hindu mythology, all living forms emerge from the womb of mother Parvati. The natural world is said to be the direct manifestation of her divine being. Representing this profound manifestation, the artwork depicts Parvati in all her maternal glory. Each part of her body nurtures different life forms that inhabit the earth. Her hair portrays life-sustaining rivers flowing from the mountains of the Himalayas to land and sea, nourishing all life both above and below ground. Her body blooms nectar-filled flowers visited by hummingbirds to facilitate the circle of life. Her hands shower pomegranate seeds, symbolizing prosperity and fertility in Hindu lore, representing her as the mother of all creation.
